To support and strengthen our Scientific Services department, we are looking for a motivated and dedicated Senior Scientist, with a passion for innovation and further development of molecular genetic diagnostics and reporting, to join our Molecular Genetics department as soon as possible.
In this position, you will have the opportunity to be part of a team of highly motivated scientists and physicians that emphasize the importance of high quality interpretation of genetic sequences, in relation to the clinical picture of each case. Medicover Genetics has a large international portfolio that includes single genes and rare disease diagnostic panels across 16 medical specialities, whole exome and whole genome sequencing. This position is in our central laboratory, were we have team of more than 300 scientists, medical and technical personal. You will also work closely with the Molecular Diagnostics Teams based in Poland and Romania.
Your main responsibility will be to provide molecular genetic reports for data generated from next generation sequencing, including single gene, panel and whole exome sequencing analyses. We will provide a complete onboarding program, training and access to our data analysis platform. You will analyse the sequencing data using our recently updated pipeline, and each case will be interpreted within the context of the full clinical picture. Given our expertise across many medical specialties and experience in genetic diagnostics, you will always be supported when you need it. Additionally, you will provide support for our regional sales team, in offering molecular diagnostic testing to local partners.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Scientific evaluation of molecular genetic test results from routine diagnostics (NGS data, Sanger sequencing, MLPA, etc.)
Evaluation of the results in a clinical context and preparation of molecular genetic reports
Scientific and organizational support of diagnostics (e.g., continuous updating of the portfolio and information materials)
Cross-functional communication with key stakeholders, including medical and scientific staff, marketing, sales, and operations
Establishment, validation and incorporation of new examination methods/techniques into routine diagnostics
Publication/presentation of medical-scientific contributions at national/international specialist congresses
Your qualifications
Life science degree (biology, molecular diagnostics, or a comparable field of study), advanced degree desirable
Profound knowledge in genetics, molecular genetics and human biology
Interest in genetic indications and diagnosis
Experience in human genetic diagnostics is desirable
Responsible, independent and solution-oriented working attitude
Ability to work in a team as well as show commitment and flexibility
Motivation to familiarize yourself with new specialist areas and technologies
Fluent German and very good written and spoken English skills, are a must
